About the Event itself:

The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) has decided to organise a Monothematic Conference on Bacterial Infections in Cirrhosis.

Bacterial infections are among the most common and life-threatening complications of patients with advanced cirrhosis. Due to its importance, this is a very hot topic for clinicians as well as for researchers in the field of cirrhosis. During the 2 days of the conference, all aspects of bacterial infections will be covered, including pathogenesis, clinical relevance, diagnosis, biomarkers, consequences, treatment, and prophylaxis.

The conference will provide all participants a unique opportunity to discuss the recent developments in the field of cirrhosis with an array of speakers that are leaders in their respective areas of research.

The aims of the conference are:

Increase the awareness of the clinical relevance of bacterial infections in patients with cirrhosis,
Understand the current pathogenesis of bacterial infections in cirrhosis,
Explain the more recent advances in the early diagnosis of bacterial infections,
Update information with respect to the management and prophylaxis of bacterial infections,
